Davao Crocodile Park

Posted by: pamela15s on: April 12, 2009

Davao was great! We had a 5-day blast and we especially enjoyed ourselves when we got to Davao Crocodile Park. At first we were all pessimistic, thinking that maybe all we are going to see are nothing but crocodiles. WRONG!

Davao Crocodile Park is like a mini-zoo. I think it’s called that because they primarily breed crocs there and providing a sanctuary for those nearly-endangered species. So, of course, we saw more animals there than we expected. I was overwhelmed! So did my camera. I ran out of battery just when we were about to go to Butterfly House which is only less than 300 meters from the park. I wanted to curse myself for not bringing the charger. Charging while having a break would have made my day. I’m so stupid.

Anyway, here are a few of my fave shots. I want to emphasize that there are more pics of the zoo animals than of ourselves here because: First, I was so consumed with the photo feast I was in, I forgot I had other 5 members of the family with me. Second, I ran out of battery by the time I realized that.

This is my dad. At 68, he’s as active as we are. We just arrived.
My husband’s first blog exposure and he chose this. Sometimes I don’t understand him.
This is Pangil. He’s H-U-G-E.
I’ve never seen so many crocodiles all in one place.

Ostriches.Really curious.I had to back out a little for fear it might peck on my cam.

Kalaw. Feeding time is the best photo time.
Hawk. Amazing isn’t it? That form means he’s being aggressive. I thought he was just flexing at that time.
This talking Myna will ask you when approached: “What’s your name?” If you don’t answer, he will ask you again: “Unsa imo ngalan?” My dad answered him, “I’m pogi.” Then he will answer back, “I’m pogi pogi.”
Water Dragon. This is the first time I’ve seen this kind of animal. Intriguing blue eyes.
This is Carlo the Orangutan. He’s fun but he stinks! I mean literally.
The park is about a 20-minute ride from the city center and you only get and out of there by taxi. Entrance fee is P100 for adults with 50% discount on kids and senior citizens. That saved us P150.

If ever you’re in Davao Crocodile Park, have your cam batteries charged. Take it from me.
