Random Shots, Random Picks
I’d like to share this shot that I took a few months ago while practicing landscape shots at our city’s Kawa-Kawa Boulevard. Somehow seeing that boat house depresses me. These people are small-time fishermen (I think) and the fishing boats are at the same time their homes. Taken at sunset, this boat is sailing out to sea to earn a living.

About a week ago, Digital Photography School’s (DPS) assigment was about sweets and I was elated to finally being able to enter because I got the shot ready. The weekly assignment, by the way, is a mini-contest and the winning photo is posted on the DPS site about a week or so. I promised myself that I’d enter my (more…)

For Girls Only
Yesterday, I had the strongest feeling that the package from my sis-in-law will arrive. And it did. We had been looking forward to it for weeks!
I got so much girlie stuff from her. This wasn’t the first time she sent us a package but this was more exciting than the last one. So my husband and I got some soap bars, lotions, whitening toothpastes, scented toothbrushes, scented candles, some multivitamins, some canned goods, cereals, chocolates and more. However, the highlight of what I had received are these:
1. L’Oreal Lipstick. I am not a lipstick girl but I do wear some for special occasions that require make-up or work. I think this will be my favorite so far because: One – its L’Oreal for crying out loud! Two: I love the shade of color and how it feels on my lips. Feels like I only have lipbalm on, so my lips feel moisturized instead of dry. I like the sublte pinkish sheen. I like pink and I like subtle.Good combination. Looks natural on me. Gives my lips a matte look and even tone. Love it! haha!
2. Victoria Secret Romantic Wish Body Mist . Aaah, love it! I’ve mentioned that I’m quite allergic to perfume so I never dared buy any fragrances. But this. It smells so…so…crazily soft and alluring. And My husband wants “alluring”. Ahem. Maybe I shall put my allergy to the test and see if Victoria Secret works for me. Maybe I won’t put too much. A little on the wrists or neck might be enough…I hope it works or it’s anti-histamine for me!

The very thing I can’t leave the house without
Lipbalm.
You might have expected a celfone. For others maybe that’s true.
When I was in college, I developed a habit to constantly moisturize my lips with my own saliva. Turns out that it wasn’t such a good idea, because believe it or not, saliva dries the lips faster than water. So overtime, I started noticing my lips are getting a bit chapped despite the nice weather and the constant cover of college classrooms. I ignored it and licked my lips more to ease that.
Big mistake. In a few days, my lips got swollen and so dry that I couldn’t stretch my mouth to laugh, eat in large gulps,or even smile.Good thing I didn’t have a boyfriend then, or else kissing would have been a problem too.
It didn’t look ugly.In fact, I looked like I was wearing lipstick. It was that red.And although I would have loved my lips to look that red naturally, it wasn’t at all comfortable. That’s when a gay friend of mine adviced that I should be using lipbalm. I bought Chapstick and for the first time, I was wearing lipbalm.
Over time, I discovered that Chapstick contained petrolatum and it wasn’t good for (more…)

Davao Crocodile Park
Davao was great! We had a 5-day blast and we especially enjoyed ourselves when we got to Davao Crocodile Park. At first we were all pessimistic, thinking that maybe all we are going to see are nothing but crocodiles. WRONG!
Davao Crocodile Park is like a mini-zoo. I think it’s called that because they primarily breed crocs there and providing a sanctuary for those nearly-endangered species. So, of course, we saw more animals there than we expected. I was overwhelmed! So did my camera. I ran out of battery just when we were about to go to Butterfly House which is only less than 300 meters from the park. I wanted to curse myself for not bringing the charger. Charging while having a break would have made my day. I’m so stupid.
Anyway, here are a few of my fave shots. I want to emphasize that there are more pics of the zoo animals than of ourselves here because: First, I was so consumed with the photo feast I was in, I forgot I had other 5 members of the family with me. Second, I ran out of battery by the time I realized that.
My husband’s first blog exposure and he chose this. Sometimes I don’t understand him. (more…)4 comments April 12, 2009
